The Cabinet Committee of Central Government has approved the launch of Ayushman Bharat- National Health Protection Mission on the Union Budget of 2018-19. The scheme was officially launched on 14th April 2018 on Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Jayanti. Under the National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS), each BPL family will be covered of Rs 5 lakh per year. It is a centrally sponsored scheme that means all the expense will bear by the Centre Govt. This scheme will cover all the secondary care and most tertiary care procedures. In Hindi, this scheme is known as Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY).
Under this scheme, beneficiaries will be allowed to take cashless benefits from any Public or Private Empanelled Hospitals. The central government will provide payment on Package Rate basis. Package Rates will include all the costs associated with treatment. It will be a cashless, paperless transaction for beneficiaries. The application form for Ayushman Bharat Yojana-2018 is made by online or offline both ways. The target beneficiaries of the proposed scheme will be more than 10 crore BPL Families belonging to poor and vulnerable population based on Socio-Economic Caste Census.

How to Register for Ayushman Bharat Yojana (National Health Protection Mission-2018) Online?
The Modi Government has approved the launch of Ayushman Bharat Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana in the Union Budget 2018-19. On Dr. BR Ambedkar Jayanti (14th April 2018), PM Modi inaugurates first Health and Wellness Centres in Jangal, Bijapur, and Chhattisgarh. National Health Protection Scheme has the benefits cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year. The target beneficiaries will be allowed to take benefits from any Govt/Pvt impaneled hospitals. There is more than 10 crore BPL Families cover under this scheme. The important features of Ayushman Bharat Yojana are as follows:

  1. The beneficiaries cover will also include pre and post-hospitalization benefits.
  2. The beneficiaries can avail benefits in both Public & Private impaneled facilities.
  3. Under this scheme, AP-NHPM will have a defined benefit cover of Rs 5 lakh per year per household.
  4. The government will make payment for treatment on “Package Rate Basis”.
  5. All the treatment cost will get included in Package Rates under this scheme.
  6. National Health Protection Mission is portable across the country.
  7. To ensure that nobody is left out, there will be no cap on the family size and age in this scheme.

Note - Basically, Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a Mega Health Insurance Scheme which will cover 10 crore BPL Families across the country.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana Online Applications/Registrations (AB-NHPS-2018) Process-
Ayushman Bharat Yojana has been started with the launch of health and wellness
centers by PM Narendra Modi on 14th April 2018 (On Dr. BR Ambedkar Jayanti). It is still not clear how the beneficiary families will be registered under this scheme or what will be the actual eligibility criteria for the selection of beneficiary families. Till now, there is no official notification regarding the online or offline registration/applications for Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
However, after the cabinet meeting held last month in which
gives approval for AB-NHPM and it is expected that the applications will start in the 1st week of August month. As soon as the application process will start, we will update it here. So stay tuned in ExamResultInfo Portal.

(I) Apply Online for Ayushman Bharat Yojana: - Since the Govt is pushing digital delivery of its service, so it is likely vulnerable families may be invited to register/apply online for the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. (II) Apply Offline for Ayushman Bharat Yojana: - The applications for the AB-Health Insurance Scheme can also be invited through the offline mode at Health & Welfare Centers (HWC) across the country.
