Electricity Price / tariff hike in Uttarakhand – Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) issued order for hiking the price in state electricity rates for different industries from 10% to 33%. The information has been got through the UERC department so far. The commission has increased the electricity rates from 10% to 12% in LT for the industrial consumers. LT industrial consumer’s tariff fixed by the Commission would be Rs 2.75 per unit. The rate was before Rs. 2.45 per unit. The HT connection having industries shall pay Rs. 2.20 per unit for their 33% load factor. In the range from 33% to 50% power rate would be Rs. 2.40 per unit and for more than this load factor Rs. 2.65 per unit must pay. The demand charge is based on the size of the industry. Thousand KW load demand charges on the HT industries will have to pay Rs. 150 per KW per month and more than these load industries will have to pay Rs. 200 per KW per month. The Uttarakhand Association president said that the increase in electricity rates in critical. He said that this decision will increase the pressure on the industry. The charges paid by the industry will be affected.
The steel industries have given some relief in HT category in the Uttarakhand state through the govt. The official said UIRC class will be different for steel units and they have been involved in HT industries. Supply costs and excluding the effects of inflation have not been raised domestic fares.
